Activities Coordinator - Recreation Therapist


 


Location: Alhambra, CA


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM


Pay: Starting at $25.00 per hour


Job Type: Temporary or Direct Hire Opportunity


Requirements: Must be Speak Cantonese or Mandarin. Must have a minimum of 2 years working with the elderly. 


 


Job Title & Quick Summary: The Activities Coordinator conducts assessments and collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to create individualized care plans for PACE participants. This role focuses on developing and implementing diverse activities to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of participants, fostering an enriching and supportive environment.




Responsibilities:




  • Plan and implement a variety of activities, including exercise, arts and crafts, recreational games, community outings, and cognitive groups.




  • Organize community outings and special events, including transportation, entertainment, and catering arrangements.




  • Develop and distribute a monthly calendar of activities.




  • Plan and oversee small group or one-on-one activities for dementia-specific populations, including sensory stimulation.




  • Assist participants and caregivers by providing leisure education and supplies for in-home use as needed.




  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and report changes in participants’ baseline status.




  • Maintain the activities area, including daily clean-up, supply inventory, and budgeting.




  • Assess and facilitate activities for participants in group or nursing home settings.




  • Complete documentation, including assessments, reviews, service plans, and other participant data.




  • Provide ongoing support for dementia-specific programming and staff training.




  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and organizational policies.




Required Qualifications :



  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or a closely related field (preferred).




  • Current BLS/First Aid certification (preferred).




  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with frail or elderly populations.




  • Cantonese/Mandarin language proficiency required.




  • Valid driver’s license with routine travel between PACE sites.




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Effective written and oral communication skills.




  • Problem-solving ability and good judgment.




  • Ability to work independently and adapt to various situations.




  • Proficiency with workplace computer skills.
