Director of Surgical Services


Starting Salary: $127,000 (+ $10k sign on bonus with 3 year commitment)


 


Requirements to apply:


·       BSN required


·       Graduate from an accredited school of nursing


·       Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Maine


·       BLS, PALS, ACLS Certification required


·       At least 3 years perioperative experience


·       CNOR required


·       Leadership experience preferred but not required if strong clinical background is present

Job Overview:


We're seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to manage our Surgical Services Department under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. This role oversees a low-volume surgical program that runs Monday through Thursday with no on-call responsibilities, providing an excellent work-life balance. The department focuses on general surgery and orthopedics, with emergency cases transported off-site. With a team of 30 FTEs, the manager will guide age-appropriate services while making real-time administrative decisions based on established standards of care and policies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative leadership environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to confidentiality and organizational values. ·       Med/Surg census averages around 3 patients per day

Serving Machias and Washington County, the facility has evolved since its founding in 1960, with several expansions over the years to accommodate growing needs. Notable improvements include an expanded emergency department completed in 2017, with nine private rooms, state-of-the-art monitoring, and a newly designed entrance for better access.
