Licensed Vocational Nurse - NIGHT SHIFT

 

Location: Downtown LA

Setting: Residential Treatment Facility - Substance Abuse 

Assignment Type: Long Term Temp

Schedule: 

Clinic open 7 days a week - you can choose days. 

Nigh Shift Schedule: 11pm - 7:30am

Pay: $35 - $37/hour

Parking: Employee parking and company shuttle service provided to residential facility.

 

 

Job Summary:

Within the regulatory scope of practice and under the direction of the Program Director, the LVN assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures, technical and supportive functions in the recuperative care setting.

Program Population:  The SUD Residential Program is a facility in the Skid Row area, serving a diverse and vulnerable population. Some of these individuals may experience mental health and substance abuse issues, which can occasionally result in behaviors such as yelling, using strong language, and displaying anger outbursts. The core responsibility of each staff member is to support clients in overcoming obstacles and improving their coping mechanisms.


 

Responsibilities



  • Performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by established policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training and responsibilities 

  • Uses and practices “basic assessment” (e.g. data collection) and documents data in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company and the standards of LVN practice.

  • Contributes to evaluation of the patient’s individualized interventions related to the care plan and treatment plan.

  • Performs basic patient care consistent with the policies and procedures of the company and the LVN licensure laws of the State of California.

  • Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control per policy and procedures.

  • Consistently uses and reinforces proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protection equipment.

  • Recognizes the need for emergency care; initiates appropriate procedures within the scope of practice and alerts the Nurse Manager and physician in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications :


  • Current and valid California LVN License.

  • Current BLS card from the American Heart Association. 

  • At least one-year experience in an ambulatory care setting

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team

  • Proficient in performing basic nursing skills, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with activities of daily living.

  • Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, physicians, and support staff. 

  • Experience in working with clients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. 

  • Current and valid California Driver’s License with current car insurance. 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
