Registered Nurse – Perioperative Float: Pre-Op, PACU, OR  Ophthalmological Ambulatory Surgical Center


Per Diem - 3-5 shifts monthly




Requirements to Apply:




    • Active, Current and Unencumbered RN license in MO





    • BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association





    • RN ADN or ASN required; RN BSN preferred





    • 1+ year of RN experience in a similar setting required - accepted experience includes:

      • OR RN in Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) setting - Preferred

      • Ophthalmological surgery experience - Preferred

      • Pre-Op, PACU, Inpatient OR - Scrub or Circulate





 

The Ophthalmological Operating Room Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Surgical Center setting assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures.  This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction.  Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

 



Schedule: Per Diem - approximately 3-5 shifts a month requested

Shift Time: Day shift - No late nights, weekends or on-call shifts required!

Pay Rate: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour



 

Responsibilities:



    • Administers patient medications, coordinates treatments and procedures in a safe, effective and age appropriate manner.





    • Ensures accurate control and accounting on the sterile field





    • Recognizes critical deviations in patient conditions, taking appropriate action and documenting intervention





    • Effectively utilizes surgical preference procedure cards, making and communicating changes as appropriate





    • Exercises independent judgement and decision making to control the OR environment and maintain sterile field, privacy, body temp, and manage potential for discomfort, injury, or risks of infection





    • Verifies operative procedure site and side, with the patient's statement and written consent, ensuring time out procedures are followed and correcting any inconsistencies





    • Empathizes with patient, expresses compassion and understanding for the situation and demonstrates care which is appropriate for the age, and cultural, religious, or ethnic background





    • Collaborates with members of the healthcare team, physicians, and surgeons ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff through different levels of care





    • Develops and implements a plan of care for patients that considers patient age, cultural and religious preferences





    • Supports the patients participation in planning for their care and acts as a source of information, articulately responding to questions and providing resources/education
